Momma’s Bread

  • 13 ounces milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
Heat milk to 80 degrees, or until barely hot. Add butter and yeast to milk and let sit about 5 minutes. In separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Then add milk mixture and hand stir until dough forms. Knead dough on floured surface for 10 minutes. Grease a stainless steel bowl and place dough inside. Let it double in size (I put mine in front of a space heater, thank you Lauren!), then punch it down. Knead it until air is out. Roll out on a floured board and make a thick snake shape. Tuck ends underneath and place in a greased loaf pan. Let the bread double in size. Then bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
